Zanzibar Tours was born in 2014 from a simple idea: that the best tours are led by people who genuinely love the place they are showing you. Our founder Mohammed Hassan, who grew up in Stone Town watching tourists struggle with unreliable local guides, wanted to create something different — tours led by knowledgeable, passionate locals who could share the real Zanzibar.
Ten years later, we have welcomed over 5,000 guests from more than 70 countries. We have maintained our core commitment: small groups, expert local guides, authentic experiences, and a genuine passion for showing you the Zanzibar we know and love.
We are proud to be 100% locally owned and operated. We hire from local communities, support local suppliers, and are deeply committed to the sustainable development of Zanzibar's tourism industry in a way that benefits the island and its people.
